Writer Sujatha’s list of 10 Best Indian movies is the latest addition to Rediff’s excuse to catch up with celebrities.
Rediff, by the way is getting too busy to read what it publishes. With gems like, “His real name is Rangarajan but nobody knows him by that name”, its bound to spawn a desktop calender with “Rediffism of the day”, which may someday outsell Bush.
Muthal Mariyathai
I consider this Bharathi Rajaa’s best film effort. He managed to make Sivaji Ganesan under-act!
Nayakan
A deftly handled episode-style of narration with a great performance by Kamal Haasan.
Mullum Malarum
Mahendran’s triumph was making superstar Rajnikanth act naturally.

Sujatha’s list was finally a decent one, after all rubbish lists from other so called big film makers!! Great to see him including deserving Tamil movies and not ones that ride on hype…

Well! I am happy that Sujatha’s list was heaps better than most others (at the other end of the spectrum is Subhash Ghai - with Taal on the list - how funny can it get)
Still, Bharathiraaja making ‘Shivaji under-act’ or Mahendran making ‘Rajini act naturally’ doesn’t qualify them as top 10 movies. Mudhal Mariyadhai and Mullum Malarum may have earned their spot in the list by virtue of being a good movie (I am not sure if they r good enuf for top 10, nevertheless) but the reasons said were ludicrous. I am sure it must be another Rediffism (Sujatha’s words taken out of context).

Sujatha’s list is certainly much better than the other lists. After looking into vipul shah’s and subash ghai’s list, I wonder if these hindi film makers ever watch movies of other regional languages.
