Let me be a little critical here:
The build up was fine but there was a total let down towards the end. Typically there would be a setup and payoff. I am not sure what is the payoff for the audience in this story.
Disappointing the audience after a fine buildup is what I consider the negative in this story, IMHO.
Surprise would work, But not for a short story. There’s a lot to write on this, But cutting short due to lack of time.

Good Job. From the build up and the Sujatha style write up, I knew this was coming. But many would not have expected. This is all about story writing.
